Tokyo

prefix Zojka · British Shorthair · DBE-ALT · one blue eye · Genotyped

Under the variant field this directory proposes, this cat would read DBE 163t. A laboratory result on this animal. The proposal is set out in full here, and no registry issues this field today: it is computed from the record at each build and is not part of any registration.

How this cat is connected to the trait

A laboratory has tested this animal itself, so nothing has to be traced: the result is on the cat.

No parent is recorded for this cat in the register, so no genealogy can be drawn. That is a gap in the sources, not a statement that the cat had none. Any offspring the register holds are listed below.

What is flagged

  1. TOKYO. WHITE IN QUESTION. The EMS code carries none and the published photograph shows white on the chest, muzzle and feet, which a golden coat also produces. A WHITE CODE, OR A CLEAR PHOTOGRAPH OF THE WHOLE CAT, WOULD SETTLE IT. The variant itself is not in question: it is genotyped

A flag is not an error. It marks a place where two sources say different things, or where an attribution cannot be made on the evidence held.

The description held
GENOTYPED DBE^ALT, HETEROZYGOUS, WRITTEN OUT BY THE LABORATORY AS DBE-ALT/n. Black golden shell with ODD EYES, one green and one blue. AN ODD EYE ON A GENOTYPED CAT IS EVIDENCE THAT THE VARIANT PRESENTS AS AN ODD EYE AND NOT ONLY AS A BLUE ONE, which this register already holds from BelleAyr O'Blue Pearl for DBE^RE and now holds for DBE^ALT as well. THE COLOURPOINT ALLELE IS EXCLUDED BY TEST AND NOT BY READING A CODE, which is what this register asks for throughout: where a pointing factor and a pale eye stand together, only a genotype separates them, and here a laboratory has run that separation. Longhair is excluded on the same panel and he carries fawn. THE PANEL DOES NOT ADDRESS WHITE and the source does not claim it does. HE IS ONE OF TWO MALES ON ONE RESULT AND THE PAIR IS THE POINT. Topaz is coded 61, two blue eyes; Tokyo is coded 63, one green and one blue. THE SAME VARIANT WAS FOUND IN BOTH. This register already holds that shape in the Maine Coon, where three BelleAyr sisters of one litter are all genotyped DBE^RE and the registries coded them 68, 69 and nothing at all, and it already holds one genotyped DBE^ALT cat coded 61 and one coded 63. SO THIS CORROBORATES RATHER THAN ESTABLISHES: the same finding in a second variant, a second breed group and a second laboratory. WHETHER THE TWO ARE LITTERMATES IS NOT STATED BY THE SOURCE AND IS NOT ASSUMED. THE CODE CARRIES NO WHITE AND THE PHOTOGRAPH SHOWS SOME, AND THAT IS NOT RESOLVED HERE. His code carries no white figure of any kind: no dominant white, no white spotting figure and no colourpoint. The photograph published with the result shows white on the chest, the muzzle and the front feet. A GOLDEN SHELL OR GOLDEN SHADED COAT PRODUCES A NEAR-WHITE UNDERCOAT IN EXACTLY THOSE PLACES as part of its own tipping, so a photograph cannot separate that from white spotting. NO FINDING 21 CLAIM IS MADE FOR HIM, which is the treatment this register gives every animal where a code and a photograph disagree about white S_ZOOGEN_174 A CORRECTION MADE WITHIN THE HOUR AND NEVER PUBLISHED. This record was entered with the line 'Altai / Nikita'l Seymour', the founder line DBE^ALT is traced to. THE GENOTYPE DOES NOT ESTABLISH THAT DESCENT: a cat can carry the variant without any document placing it below that founder, and in this register a line is a documented descent and not an inference from a variant. THE LINE FIELD IS CLEARED. The variant stands, because it is a laboratory result. THE CATTERY HOLDS A GENOTYPED DBE^ALT CAT AND A LINE WITH NO VARIANT IDENTIFIED, AND NOTHING HELD HERE SAYS WHETHER THEY ARE THE SAME THING. Topaz and Tokyo Zojka are genotyped DBE^ALT. This litter is attributed to the Nadeya line, in which no variant has been identified. THE EYE CODES ARE THE SAME ON BOTH SIDES: 61 on the blue-eyed cats and 63 on the odd-eyed ones. EITHER THE CATTERY HOLDS TWO DETERMINANTS, which would make it a two-variant cattery in one breed group and a place a compound heterozygote could be made by accident, OR THE NADEYA ATTRIBUTION HERE IS WRONG AND THESE CATS ARE DBE^ALT TOO, which would partly resolve one of the largest untested lines in the register. A DBE^ALT TEST ON ANY ONE CAT OF THIS LITTER SETTLES IT, and it is among the cheapest and most informative tests this register can name. NEITHER READING IS ADOPTED: the genotyped cats have no recorded parents, so a shared cattery is all that joins them to this litter, and A SHARED CATTERY IS NOT A SHARED LINE. S_ZOJKA_175 HIS PARENTS ARE STILL NOT GIVEN. The 24 July post names Topaz's and not his, so no parent link is drawn for him and the white question on his record stays open: the cattery's statement that there is no white was made about Topaz and is not transferred here. S_TOPAZ_176 WHAT THIS RESULT DOES NOT SAY, AND IT IS AS IMPORTANT AS WHAT IT DOES. The laboratory's own public catalogue offers ONE dominant blue eye product for cats, DBE-ALT, and lists no other. DBE^CEL, DBE^RE, DBE^AGO, DBE^cDc AND DBE^xHW WERE NOT TESTED. A positive DBE-ALT result therefore establishes one variant and excludes none of the other five, so this cat is not shown to be free of any of them and is NOT CLEAR. This register records the panel beside the result for exactly that reason. S_MISHA_177

Source

a public post of 29 July announcing ZOOGEN laboratory results for two males, supplied 29 August 2026. IT GIVES THE VARIANT, THE ZYGOSITY AND TWO EXCLUSIONS BY TEST: DBE-ALT/n, no colourpoint allele and no longhair, both cats carrying fawn. IT GIVES NO PARENTS, NO DATE OF BIRTH AND NO CATTERY PREFIX. THE POST IS MADE FROM A PERSONAL ACCOUNT AND THE CATTERY IS THE ZOJKA PREFIX, CONFIRMED BY THE COMPILER. THE PERSON IS NOT NAMED IN ANY FIELD OF THIS REGISTER

This directory is a working aid compiled from published charts, registry documents and breeder statements. It is not a register and it has no standing of any kind. The grade attaches to the animal, not to the line: a cat whose ancestor was genotyped is line-traced, not genotyped.
